Thursday Planning... Always the Most Tedious Day of the Week!

Lesson Plan tips, template, and paper organization- getting ready for the upcoming week

So, lesson plans are due tomorrow at 4:00, but this is what mine look like at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. My feet are DRAGGING to be productive this week on school work. My mind has been wrapped up in finishing my Kindergarten Morning Work Packs (which I'll blog about at the bottom).

As you can see, my template, standards, and targets are just fine... but I'm missing a LOT of chunk!!!

Next step. Finally finish lesson plans during planning. YAY!! Lesson Plan tips, template, and paper organization- getting ready for the upcoming week
Monday through Friday all ready to go!
Emailed to my curriculum specialist already.

After lessons are done, I can create my piles of copies I need to make.
These are usually copied during my lunch time or planning time.

Then...
I gather my centers activities for a laminating and cutting party.

One of the Kindergarten assistants went to Sam's for me last night to get me the bulk pack of laminate for just $20.

Walmart... $14 for 50 sheets
Sams... $20 for 200 sheets
Only problem is I don't have a membership to Sam's.

And this paper cutter is my BEST friend.
My boyfriend's mother gave me this. She is a retired art teacher and didn't need it anymore. I cannot express how much time this cutter has saved me since I started using it.

Phew.... what a long day. I feel like with teaching, lesson planning, laminating, and cutting, my day flew by really quickly, but at least I'm ready for next week!

I'm certain that the reason I was so slammed with work today was because I kept pushing it off all week. I have been so excited about creating a Kindergarten Morning Work set for my Kindergarten friends and my TPT friends!

Check them out.

You can grab one sample freebie from each of the sets if you click each link then click Download Preview once at the page!

MLK Research Project

Martin Luther King Jr. Research Project- library time and online research

We are out of school today, but on Friday (and continuing on tomorrow), my students did Martin Luther King Jr. research in our Open Library schedule.

I found this research paper in a Teacher's Helper catalog.
It is for any African American during Black History Month, but I decided to pull it for my MLK research.

I called ahead to our librarian, Ms. Million, and she set up a lesson for my kids during open library.
She outlined the paper for the kids up here focusing on key words in the questions.

We used a website called PebbleGo.
It isn't free, however, I would suggest requesting it from your school if you have any funds available.
At Pebble Go, you can research animals, science, biographies, and social studies topics!

Ms. Million had the website on the ActivBoard for students who were struggling to find a specific topic. She would show the students where to find it on this page.

The students worked with their partners and went to work.
Their research skills and reading skills were really challenged, but they found out all about MLK Jr. on their own! They were very proud of themselves.

Here Comes the 100th Day!!

100th Day of School Resources and a Freebie!

We are currently at day 93, so here we come 100! I just finished my 100th pack and I wanted to share some sneak peaks!

100th Day of School Resources and a Freebie!
I'm hoping that this will chill my kids out on the 100th day! They will be so wound up, so my fingers are crossed I can get their energy out with this!

100th Day of School Resources and a Freebie!
I would upload my Age Booth image, but it is SO embarrassing. Whenever I am with my girlfriends or other groups of friends, we always Age Booth each other!

I hinted to my students that I was going to show them what they would look like when they were 100 and they did NOT believe me!!

This activity will be a front/back page activity and I will time it to see how many words they can get in a set amount of time!

And here is a FREEBIE link to a new blogging/TPT friend of mine, Faith Wheeler. Her blog is amazing! And her recent post with a FREE February book report is to die for! I cannot wait to get it started in my classroom!
