A Day in the Life.... Sept./Oct. Link-up

When I say that I've been busy lately, I'm downplaying things...
I have been running nonstop for the last few weeks. I work all day, bring it home, work all night, then try to squeeze in as much TPT or blogging that I can do. I've been lousy, which is why I haven't gotten to do my Day in the Life linky since August!!

This month, I'm going to do something a little different.
Please link up and feel free to put your own spin on it! You can do a normal day or a special day.

Friday, October 12th and Monday, October 14th are glorious days for teachers. It's our first real break/breather since the first day of school. Some schools get a full week, while some teachers get zero days, so I'm happy with my 4-day weekend.

On my 4-day weekend, I took a trip up to Pittsburgh with my boyfriend.
It was so nice to get out of town and just relax for the weekend.
The only time that I 'worked' is on the car ride, when I graded papers and worked on paperwork!! I was so proud of myself.

Check out this unusual day in the life of a teacher
(well, two days I should say...)

Road trip!!
Grading papers while riding through our pretty county in the fall.
Picture doesn't do it justice.... it was gorgeous!

First stop: Andy Warhol Museum.
We weren't allowed to take pictures in there, so this is the only picture I snapped.
Me and Andy...

Second trip: Primanti Brothers
I saw this restaurant on a TV show and Mitch's friends all told him about this place, so we had to try it out. They pile your sandwich so high that it is almost impossible to eat. And yes, those are french fries stacked on my sandwich, too.

Third trip: Night Visit to the Phipps Conservatory
If your conservatory around your town is open at night, you have to check it out.
The plants aren't as colorful and bright and the butterflies are sleeping, but the lights are incredible.
Definitely an experience I will always remember.

Day 2- First stop: Duquesne Incline
We rode an old street car up an incline for a beautiful view of downtown Pittsburgh. The weather was perfect.

Last stop: Natural History Museum
This was a great visit, but it was cut short because we were on our way to a cookout with some of Mitch's college friends. We got to see all the dinosaur exhibit, though, which was unreal.

On the road again....
Gorgeous view.
Back to working on grading papers!

And when I got home....
I unpacked and got to work on my latest October On-the-Go pack.

Your turn!!
Tell me all about your day in the life!

Check out these link-ups for examples:

1. Take pictures of your day.
2. Create a blog post about how you spend your day as a teacher.
3. Use the graphic at the top of this blog post (Day in the Life) at the top or bottom of the post with a link back to Second Grade Nest.

  1. For as many times as I've been very close to Pittsburgh, I've only been in the city a few times, and I've never been to Primanti Brothers or been on the incline. My mom and dad grew up like an hour from Pittsburgh, and my grandparents still live around there, so I take that drive quite often. Maybe I'll have to keep going one of these days and visit the city. I guess I never thought of Pittsburgh as a weekend trip! Did you go for any particular reason, or just to go? I'm glad you had fun, and I'm glad you had a great Fall Break! I didn't realize the teachers in your district got Friday and Monday off too. Lucky you! We only got one day here. (I guess I should put my comment in context- my 14 year old sister goes to school in the same school district you teach in, so I knew they got Friday and Monday off, but I didn't realize the teachers did too. I was under the impression that they had PD days on those days. I know I sound super stalkerish, but I swear, I'm not!)

If I remember, I may take pictures of my day tomorrow and link up! This looks like fun!

  2. I love this idea, Jessica! My dad is from Pittsburgh. I haven't been out there in such a long time. He is always telling my husband that he needs to eat at Primanti Brothers when he's out there for work. I would love to share some pictures of my fall break. We went to the Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque and got married for a second time, so it was quite eventful and busy to say the least. I feel the same way about the "normal" day. I am constantly grading, planning, pinning, blogging, and everything else that ends in "ing" Hope you have a great day. Looking forward to linking up when I get home from school. Also, wanted to let you know that I'm doing a Halloween Treat Bag Exchange. Thought it'd be fun to partner up with some other bloggers to exchange some gifts for Halloween. Check out my blog for more information on that. And please join us if you're interested. I'd love if you'd share that with your friends as well. I will be so much fun to get a package in the mail!
