Balloon Popping Our Way to the End of the Year

We are OFFICIALLY in the single digit countdown. Once I hit single digits, I promised myself I would  do the balloon popping idea I found on Pinterest last year! I'm so excited that it is finally up and ready!

I used 9 balloons and filled them up with 9 different positive rewards for the next day.
If the students can behave all day, we pop the balloons at the end of the day.

Here are all my materials:
(And actually I didn't use string- our school ladder was in use, so I ended up NOT hanging them up from the ceiling).
Bubble Gum Chewing Allowed
Pick Your Own Seat Tomorrow
Lunch Bunch Tomorrow
Sidewalk Chalk Tomorrow at Recess
Outside Reading Tomorrow
10 Extra Minutes of Recess
Play With Bubbles Tomorrow
Movie and Popcorn Tomorrow (schedule to pop this second to the last day)
Special Treat Day (schedule to pop this the last day)

After four balloons popped on me, I was light headed and flustered!

Like I said before, my school ladder was busy being utilized and I promised my kids they would be up  when they got back from Specials, so in a bit of a time crunch, I just stapled them to my cork board on the top of my white board. I kind of like them better here than hanging from the ceiling because they are easier to get to and I don't have to climb!

Here is a close up of the staples and corkboard!
Make sure you don't staple the balloon or it'll pop on you!!

The finished product!
We are TOO excited!

  1. OMG too funny! I just repinned this idea on pinterest 2 minutes ago and another blogger I follow is also doing this! You guys have definitely made up my mind that I'm doing this at the end of the year. It looks like so much fun!

  2. I SO want to try this but I think I'm going to wait until the last week of school when they are already wild beyond all imagination. :)

  8. What an fun and engaging idea! I can imagine how much they would LOVE this. I just wish I had my own class rather than five different Math classes over two classrooms as I couldn't do this.
you've inspired me to adapt your concept and see what I can do with my class counting down the Math lessons at the end of the year! :) I can't wait to share (7 months to go until I can do this!).
